New Faces, New Challenges, One Purpose

It’s been a year and a half since all our students have been together at The Learning Center. On the day after Labor Day, it was back to a whirlwind of enrichment activities, Bible studies and, of course, homework help.

We started the year with most of our returning students and a bunch of new faces—all waiting for their stories to be told and many to have new chapters written. We’re always in awe at what God does in the spirits of the children and our awe-inspiring volunteers.

“I’m new here!,” shouted Malakhi to one of our teachers with the biggest smile on his face. One new kindergartener came in clinging to her parents and many teenagers walked in with grumpy faces -- that all changed by the time they left.

Our Bible teachers are challenging the kids with “Character Matters” using bible characters to teach character traits. First up, R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

If you want to be blessed, if you want to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that your time and service is significant, sign up to come into this very special place. Even the snacks nourish and bring a smile to their faces (and stomachs). Here’s some items that we need a continuous supply of:

  • Your presence. We absolutely love having you here. And, we need you!

  • Healthy snacks – these kids come in HUNGRY! If we could get in a rhythm of people or a group committing to once a month. Better yet, does anyone have time to be our Snack Coordinator?

  • We encourage using napkins, forks and 5-oz dixie cups for water. We’re constantly needing to break down large Sam’s/Costco portions into individual-sized bags so we need Ziplock bags (we just recently discovered Square Snack bags ☺).

  • For more necessary items, check the NEEDED ITEMS tab above.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”
